Grimsby Heritage Advisory Committee

Resolved, that the Grimsby Heritage Advisory Committee Minutes of March 3, 2020 be received.

Resolved that Kate Sharrow be appointed to the Grimsby Beach Study Steering Committee.

Resolved that the verbal updates in regards to 35 Main Street West, 262 Main Street West, 352 Main Street West, Grimsby Beach Study and 493 Ridge Road West be received.

Resolved that the presentation from the Director of Planning be received.

Resolved that the Heritage Advisory Committee recommends that the following properties; 104 Main Street East, 130 Main Street East, 141 Main Street East, 147 Main Street East, be designated under part IV section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act; once edits have been made to the satisfaction of the GHAC and that Staff proceed as proscribed by the Ontario Heritage Act & Heritage Tool Kit.

Resolved that the Heritage Advisory Committee recommends that the property at 224 Main Street East designation bylaw be amended to add significant attributes, once edits have been made to the satisfaction of the GHAC and that staff proceed as proscribed by the Ontario Heritage Act & Heritage Tool Kit

Resolved that the updated status and activity report be received.

Resolved that the correspondence - Local Planning Appeal Tribunal be received.

Resolved that the ruling of the Chair in regards to waiving the NOM be upheald.

Resolved that the rules of procedure 5.7.7(7) be waived to introduce the NOM immediately.

WHEREAS Section 40.1 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O.18 authorizes the council of a municipality to undertake a study of any area of the municipality for the purpose of designating one or more heritage conservation districts; AND WHEREAS on February 18, 2020 Council of the Town of Grimsby approved the "Main Street East Cultural Heritage Landscape or Heritage Conservation District Study" in its 2020 budget; AND WHEREAS the Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee provides Council with advice on identifying, conserving and promoting heritage within the Town of Grimsby; AND WHEREAS the Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee deems it desirable and expedient to initiate a Heritage Conservation District Study; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee formally submits to the Committee of the Whole the attached draft By-law, recommended for approval, designating the Main Street East Heritage Conservation District Study Area in accordance with Section 40.1 of the Heritage Act; AND THAT the attached draft By-law be circulated to Staff for comments to be considered concurrently by the Committee of the Whole in the consideration of this Committee’s recommendations.
