Resolved that Resolution No. C-20-63 of the Budget Committee of the Whole meeting minutes of February 18, 2020 be amended to read: Whereas the proposed 2020 Budget Submission preapproved by Council on 18th February 2020 represents a 16.70% increase to The Town so a good gesture of Council's commitment to the taxpayers of Grimsby, Council they should agree to a similar or bigger percentage cut in salary; And Whereas the Mayor and Council, elected by the taxpayers of Grimsby, are fiscally and morally accountable to consider all aspects of the budgetary issues and concerns of our electorate - based on our fiduciary duty and also based on numerous requests from Grimsby residents, business owners and taxpayers pleading for a concentrated effort by Council to reduce the budget and the tax levy; And Whereas the Mayor and Council are responsible to ensure the taxpayers are offered a fair, reasonable, equitable and affordance budget and tax levy for all members of the community at all income levels and it is very responsible and prudent for Council to offer 16-20% cut in salaries which will be factored into the budget; Therefore be it resolved that currently the total budget costs of Council salary is circa $220,000 which represents about 2.00% of the Town's Portion and about 0.50% of the Tax Levy, that All of Council take a 20% Pay Cut which represents about $44,000 and about 0.30% of Town Portion and 0.10% of Tax Levy.
