Public Works Committee

Resolved that Report DPW13-38 dated October 30, 2013 regarding Main Street West – Proposed Sanitary Sewer, Woolverton Road to Casablanca Boulevard be received and that the recommendations contained herein be approved; and further, that the Director be authorized to proceed with notification to the residents regarding this proposed project.

Resolved that Report DPW13-39 dated October 31, 2013 regarding Public Works Department – Winter Maintenance Needs be received and that the Director include a new Winter Maintenance Zone and associated Capital and Operating Costs into the 2014 Budget; and that the increased staff person be actioned immediately.

Resolved that Report DPW13-40 dated November 8, 2013, regarding the Release of the Ten Percent Construction Lien Page 3 of 5 Public Works Committee November 12, 2013 Holdback for Contract PWC13-02-320003, Cold Mix Paving & Surface Treatment Program 2013 be received and that the Director be authorized to release the Ten Percent Construction Lien Holdback in the amount of $6,668.89 in favour of Norjohn Contracting and Paving Limited.

Resolved that Report DPW13-41 dated November 8, 2013 regarding the Niagara to GTA Corridor EA Study - Phase 1, Final Transportation Development Strategy - Region of Niagara be received and that the Town of Grimsby hereby supports the Region of Niagara's recommendations to be sent to the Ministry of Transportation as identified in detail within Niagara Region Report PW90-2013.

Resolved that the correspondence received from Race Kit Event Service Inc. dated November 7, 2013 to request approval for the Grimsby Half Marathon - 3 and 10K Races on Town roads scheduled for Monday, February 17, 2014 subject to all notifications, insurance and applicable permit requirements be received prior to the event.

Resolved that the DIA Board Meeting Minutes of September 17, 2013 be received for informational purposes and filed.

Resolved that the 'Winter Maintenance Common Snow Storm Questions Asked By Residents' document list be reviewed by the Public Works Committee and placed on the Town of Grimsby website for resident information.

Resolved that the Town of Grimsby EOI application to the 2013/2014 Municipal Infrastructure Fund for the 2014 Watermain Project hereby certify that:  the information in the Expression of Interest is factually accurate; and  the municipality has a comprehensive asset management plan that includes all of the information and analysis described in Building Together; Guide for Municipal Asset Management Plans in place or will have one in place by December 31, 2013;  the comprehensive asset management plan will be publicly available, including online, by May 30, 2014, and,  the project put forward in this application will be completed by December 31, 2015.
