What was decided (10 motions)

9 carried, 1 recorded otherwise. Every motion below is printed as the minutes print it.

Whereas the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) in many circumstances favours the developer, even when evidence presented shows that this is an unwise decision; and Whereas OMB decisions against the wishes of local government cost taxpayers millions of dollars each year; and Whereas decisions in one community affect communities in the rest of the Province; And further that the Province puts it’s faith in local governments to make the best decisions for their communities; Now therefore be it resolved that the Corporation of the Town of Grimsby supports the motions of the City of Toronto and the City of Mississauga to disband this outdated institution; And further that the Association of Municipalities of Ontario be encouraged to create a committee to study and draft suggestions for an appropriate replacement for the Ontario Municipal Board; And further that the Corporation of the Town of Grimsby Clerk be directed to circulate this resolution to other Ontario municipalities.
