Whereas the Town of Grimsby Sign By-law No. 97-45 was drafted in 1997 and predates electronic signage; and Whereas fostering an economic climate that seeks to retain and attract commercial and industrial businesses in Grimsby is a council strategic priority; and Whereas section 3.8 states, “No person shall erect, locate, or install a sign that does not advertise a product, goods, etc. Located on that property (no third-party signs). Except as permitted for portable signs used by community service groups” which does not take into account the flexibility of digital signs. Therefore be it resolved that Council direct Town staff to review the current Sign By-law and bring recommendations to Council on an Electronic Sign By-law.
